Inspiration from beyond hairdressing – The Big Apple

Apple's Corporate Mission

Apple is committed to bringing the best personal computing experience to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers around the world through its innovative hardware, software and Internet offerings.

Why was it called Apple?

Named by co-founder Steve Jobs in 1976 after returning from a summer picking apples on a hippie commune – had the distinct advantage of coming before Atari in the phone book but the distinct disadvantage of getting them sued by Beatles label Apple Records in 1989. The founders had no idea that the wrangle would run into nearly two decades and cost them over $25 million, luckily by then they could afford it!
