Salon of the future
We asked some top salon owners their predictions for the future…

DO IT YOURSELF
Sharon Peake, salon director, Ethos salons, Manchester
Clients are beginning to demand celebrity hairstyles but they’re not
only coming to us to create these styles for them, they’re now asking
us to show them how to recreate these styles themselves. It only made
sense that we turned our basement at our city centre salon into a
training academy and open it to the public, where we teach professional
courses in association with Clynol as well as fun classes to the
public, teaching them styling and basic cutting techniques.
IN THE MOOD
Sean Hanna, director and owner, seanhanna and RAGE International
Forward-thinking salons will focus far more on the total retail
experience, creating a professional environment in which clients can
try and buy products. Many salons will want to offer clients dedicated
treatment rooms with soft lighting and music, for ultimate relaxation.
Salons may aim to create different moods with different music in
separate areas of the salon as well as areas where clients can relax in
a sophisticated and comfortable environment, to maybe watching TV
showing styles and product advice. Salon design will take into account
a multi-sensual experience, so salons not only look and sound right but
also smell and feel right too.
