Behind the scenes Diary of an Ascot fashion show!
by Sam Bright at Woo

When Sam Bright, salon owner of Woo in Southend, was asked by KMS California to assist with the hair for the Ascot fashion show, she jumped at the chance – despite her initial panic about the strict "no jeans" rule! The brief was for eight models across four different shows during the Ascot week. Here's her diary of an opportunity she and her salon simply could not miss!

Monday June 16: Day 1.
We set off early, and after a slight prang on the M25, we managed to arrive on time to meet the session stylist Ben and Dean from GregoryDean in the car park. We headed straight for the Bessborough suite. It was amazing and the tables were dressed so beautifully – the centre pieces were all hats or shoes! When we got backstage it was full of action, with dresses being steamed and models catching up. We were introduced to Kat, the head fashion stylist, and Paul, the director of Rah productions agency.

Ben and Dean had already decided on the looks for each show: Amanda Wakeley wanted casual scraped back buns; Mathew Williamson wanted a loose, tussled look; Vivian Westwood wanted extreme individual looks; Philip Treacy wanted durable neat low buns as this needed to survive hat changes!

Today was all about timings and press, and it was all very exciting. We finally finished about 5pm.

Got to the Uni only to find there was no room for us! It took them three hours to sort it out because of this we got upgraded! We dropped our cases off and headed for the student bar.
