Be a people manager

Salon Smart People Expert Julie Eldrett says having pride and paying attention to the smaller details will help build a stronger team.

peoplephaug.jpg To me people and pride are the two fundamental assets in building a successful business.

Dealing and managing people can be very difficult for those who think that people are an interruption. But it’s important to always remember that we are dependant on their performance when dealing with customers and the subsequent success of the business.

One of the best known philosophies that is often overlooked and that which is probably more relevant now in the current economic climate is:

"Do unto others as you would have done to yourself"

I believe this to be a great starting point for 'People Managers'

Having worked in this industry for many years and having worked for other people, I know first hand how it feels to be accountable to another person when you do not know what is expected of you through poor (or no) communication. Thankfully that was a very long time ago for me, however, you never forget that feeling of demotivation and low self-esteem.

So when I had the opportunity of opening my own salon I decided I would run MY business by MY beliefs – my formula, my way.
